ELIGIBILITY:Helps provide positive & Measurable growth through mentoring
for youth ages 5 to 16 (primarily but not limited to single-parent homes) while helping
to build self-esteem, development of character, and improved relationships & preformance
at home, in school, and throughout the community, using carefully screened and trained
vlounteers as mentors. We take referals from parents, school personnel, and other youth
based professional.

ELIGLIBILITY: Students are eligible to enter the Upward Bound
program after they have completed the 8th grade but not entered 12th grade;
are between the ages of 13 and 18; if neither residential parent has completed
a four year degree; have potential for post-secondary education.
Two-thirds of the students must also meet the low-income guidelines.
SERVICES: Target high schools - Sault Ste. Marie, Rudyard, Pickford,
Brimley, Cedarville, and St. Ignace. This is a year round program including
a six week summer residential component and a nine month academic year
follow up conducted at area high schools and on the LSSU campus.
Services include tutoring, study skills development, career and personal
counseling, academic advising, basic skills development, post secondary
preparation and counseling.
