SERVICES: The Bureau of Indian Affairs serves eleven federally
recognized tribes within the State of Michigan. Funding is provided
to tribal organizations for the administration of service programs through
contracts awarded under the authority of P.L. 93-638. Direct agency
services include maintenance of land and realty records, forestry programs,
probate actions, direction in genealogy research and competitive economic
development programs. Members of federally recognized tribes are
eligible with limited services to others.

for one another. A volunteer board of directors, upon
recommendations from a local Citizens Review Panel who has
