The SHYP is an 18 month program that serves youth (16 to 20)
who are at risk for, or who are experiencing, homelessness.
When a youth is referred to the SHYP, he or she meets with a counselor
who completes a comprehensive assessment that details the needs;
housing, employment, medical attention, and personal history.
Once qualification is determined, the counselor makes arrangements to secure housing.
Participation is voluntary and is an opportunity for a successful journey to personal
independence.Once housed, the counselor meets with the youth on a regular basis
to develop and carry out a case plan for independence.
