Services:
* Business meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 2:00 pm.
Board meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 1:00 pm.
* A potluck dinner is held on the fourth of each month, with the main entree
provided by the center. Followed by penny bingo.
* Regularly scheduled activities include an exercise class, blood pressure clinic
& a card social. Other activities are scheduled periodically.
* A monthly newsletter is issued. Services such as snow removal, grass mowing,
raking and other home services are offered when ample help is available.
* Services such as home visits, information & referral, telephone reassurances
and can be received from the Vista volunteer.
* A used clothing store is operated within the building. The funds earned go
toward maintaining the building and property of the center. Fire victims can
receive clothing free of charge.
The Seniors Citizens building may be rented out for special events in the community.

Services: UP Long-Term Care Connection, provides consumers with a single point of

Utilizing the assistance of a UP Long-Term Care Connection Options Counselor,
the consumer will be provided with the entire array of options available based on their particular circumstance.
The entire process is centered upon a principal of ensuring that individuals are provided with timely, unbiased and

Services:
*Homemaking Services; is available for Senior citizens or disabled people, to
help with housekeeping and cooking.
*Publicize and distribute a magazine entitled "The Communicator."
It is for senior citizens, and is sent to them free of charge. The magazine
has articles on special events, tax problems, good old days, meetings, etc.
*Transportation is made available to senior citizens and disabled people who
do not have transportation.
*Management Area Senior Citizens Multi-Service Centers: The centers in the Luce
County are located at Columbus Township Hall, Lakefield Township Hall, and Newberry
Community Building. To be eligible for the services offered through the centers
a person must be 60 years of age or the spouse of a person 60 years of age or
older.
*The services include:
*Nutrition program: Hot meals are provided, $1.25 suggested fee 12:00 noon at
the centers on the following days:
Columbus Centers serve meals on Mondays, Wednesday, and Friday
Lakefield Centers serve meals on Tuesdays, and Thursdays
Newberry Centers serve meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
*Blood Pressure Clinics: Held once a month at the centers
*Directory for discount buying; lists of businesses (grocery, clothing, furniture,
etc.) that give discounts to senior citizens who purchase from them.
*Energy Program- The services under this program are provided for low income
individuals, families, and senior citizens. The services include: supplying
firewood (cut, split, and delivered) for those who burn wood to heat their homes,
and installing of insulation in homes that need to be winterized.
*Head Start Programs: Pre-School programs for children of low income families,
so they can begin their school career on equal terms with their classmates.
Concentrates on development of self-confidence, verbal skills, improvement of
health and improvements of physical ability.
*Loan Closet: The following items are provided on a loan basis; hospital beds,
commodes, walkers and wheelchairs.
*Emergency Assistance: The following items are provided free of charge; clothing,
bedding, a limited amount of furniture, and food.
*Appointments for people in the community can be for legal service (a fee is
charged according to income), counseling, adoption, and credit counseling.
*Income Tax Service: Provides assistance in filling out tax forms and determining
eligibility for tax credits. Call for information about date and times services
