Victims of Domestic Violence are eligible. The Diane Peppler Shelter serving Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac counties was established to offer fellowship, beds, warmth, transportation, food, clothing and time to think in a secure atmosphere.
They offer:
*Shelter, 24 hr. hot line Crisis support, counseling, Emergency medical services, Legal and financial referrals and advocacy for victims of family violence and their children. There are Outreach Workers located in the Family Independent Agency offices in Luce and Mackinac counties. As a prevention service we offer an Independent Living Skills Program for females between the ages of 15 -20.

*Counseling for (youth and family), support service, information, referrals and various youth programs. Dealing primarily with status offenders. A status offender is a youth who is truant from school, curfew violation, incorrigible, runaways, minor in possession. Project S.O.D.A. attempts to work in areas of prevention such as developing and implementation of programs for youth, i.e. support group and CAP Program.

Servies: *Superior Behavioral Health provides a variety of services to the mentally ill and developmentally disabled persons, Crisis Line, Assessments, Psychological testing and evaluation, Psychiatric evaluation, Medication review, Diagnostic and treatment services for adults and children, Home-based services, A sliding fee scale has been established for clients of the Luce County Mental Health Service Board. No one is denied services because of inability to pay. Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross and other insurance's are accepted.
Other Services include: Alpha Life Skill Center, Client Services Management, New Health, the Assertive, Community Treatment Program, Nor-Wood Industries, Residential Service, Prevention Programs, Services are available to persons of any age, without regard to race, religion, national origin or handicapping condition.
