Children’s Special Health Care Services: Specialty medical care services are available to children with potentially handicapping conditions and /or chronic illness. Services include diagnostic and medical care, nursing assessment and care management, home care, equipment, and specialty clinics. Medicaid Health Screening (EPSDT) Health screening and counseling is provided to persons under 21 years of age in collaboration with local physicians. Transportation may be provided. Immunizations: Vaccine administration services available through clinics and individual appointments include, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, hemophilus influenza, mumps, rubella, measles and hepatitis. Influenza/pneumoniavax clinics are conducted annually. HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing: Human immune-deficiency virus (HIV) causes AIDS. Trained staff provides confidential, anonymous and free counseling and testing for the HIV antibody. The pre- martial counseling, as required by Michigan law, also is provided. Reproductive Health: Comprehensive and confidential services include health history and physical examination, distribution of contraceptive methods, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, health counseling and medical referrals. As needed. MICH_CARE: Full Medicaid coverage is available to women for their pregnancy and through two months postpartum, assistance in making application for MICH_CARE is provided, via personal appointments. Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening: Confidential health counseling, screening to women over age 40, who meet financial guidelines, Clinical breast exam, pap smear test with referral for mammography and other health care needs. Annual follow up services are provided. Maternal and Children Health Programs: support is provided to families with young children. Pregnant women who have Medicaid are eligible to receive services which address phychosocial, nutritional, non-medical care, as well as transportation for health care. Infants of Medicaid eligible women are identified high-risk families are eligible for more specialized case management, provided primarily through home visits. Prenatal classes are provided quarterly in collaboration with other health care providers.
